Interaction between microbiota and bile acids in immunodeficient CD19-/- mice

The goals of this study were to characterize how humoral immunodeficiency impacts the relationship between microbiota and bile acid composition in the small intestine, and how this influences enteropathy in the small bowel. Two 16S rRNA gene sequencing experiments were performed with the goals of (1) determining if there is a link between abnormal bile acid composition observed in the small intestine (ileum) of CD19-/- mice (our model of humoral immunodeficiency) and specific features of microbial dysbiosis, and (2) determining how adoptive transfer of WT B cells into CD19-/- mice influences microbiota composition and small intestinal enteropathy.
