indicators (taken from Scimago Journal & Country Rank), and Log GDP per capita (taken from the World Bank Open Data). All data were retrieved on August

SELF = Self-citations

CPD = Citations per Document

HINDEX = H index

PDI = Power Distance

IDV = Individualism (vs. Collectivism)

MAS = Masculinity (vs. Femininity)

UAI = Uncertainty Avoidance

LTOWVS = Long term (vs. Short term) Normative Orientation

IVR = Indulgence (vs. Restraint)

LogGDP = Natural Logarithm of Averaged (1993-2018) GDP per Capita

Research_Performance = Z-scores of Component 1 from PCA extraction (based on DOC, CITA, CIT, SELF, HINDEX)

Research_Impact = Z-scores of Component 2 from PCA extraction (based on CPD)
