Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: A total of 32 sites, totaling 473 specimens, were sampled for the magnetic fabric characterization of the Late Upper Carboniferous–-Permian volcanic and volcanoclastic rocks of the Estac Basin.The sampled sites are distributed along two transects: an E–W transect, perpendicular to the overall strike of bedding and a N–-S transect, sub–-parallel to the strike of the bedding planes. Sites were homogeneously distributed along the stratigraphic succession (average spacing between sites around 15 to 20 m. Samples were obtained either as oriented cores with a gasoline–-powered drill or as oriented blocks with manual extraction tools. All samples were oriented in situ with a magnetic compass and positioned with a GPS. 2. Methods for processing the data: The analysis of the Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) at room temperature (RT–-AMS) was carried out in specimens from the 32 sampling sites. The susceptibility tensor was calculated, including statistical confidence angles (e12, e13, e21, etc…), with the software SUSAR (AGICO Inc.). The AMS values for all specimens from each site were processed and represented using the software Anisoft 5.1.03. 3.
