Scenic Byways

The Idaho Transportation Department's (ITD) Roads and Highways Road Network Linear Referencing System (LRS) scenic byway event polyline feature class identifies the state's Scenic Byways, which are roads that have been designated for their outstanding scenic, natural, historic, recreational, archaeological, or cultural qualities, which are also known as "intrinsic qualities". These byways are recognized as gateways to adventure and offer a more immersive experience than a typical interstate, highlighting the unique character of the region. The term encompasses a collection of nationally and state-designated routes, often featuring special points of interest and interpretive information.
