Molecular analysis of feces reveals gastrointestinal nematodes in reintroduced wild asses of the Negev

This project aims to identify the parasitic gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) of the reintroduced wild ass (Equus hemionus) population in the Negev. We used DNA metabarcoding on fecal samples collected from two distinct habitats: the Negev highlands and the dry Negev desert and in four different seasons. We used specific primers targeting the ITS2 gene in nematodes and sequenced the samples.
