Single wide graded scour protection for monopiles

During December 2018 and January 2019 DHI conducted a series of physical model tests of the regradation of single wide graded scour protection exposed to waves and current. The development of single wide graded scour protections around monopiles when exposed to waves and current were tested. During the tests the fine fraction of the rock for scour protection was washed away at the most exposed areas of the scour protection. During the testing the development of the scour protection was monitored by photogrammetry and at the end of the test (at equilibrium) the regraded portions of the scour protection were removed, and the new gradation quantified (sieve analysis). The underlaying material and an undisturbed sample was analysed as well.<br>The tests were conducted as part of the Hydralab+ Joint Research Action (JRA)
