资源简介:
The strain was isolated from the rhizome of an ethnobotanically important medicinal plant, Acorus calamus grown in Manipur. It has antifungal activities against major rice pathogens such as Aspergillus niger, Curvularia oryzae, Fusarium oxysporum, Helminsthosporum oryzae and Rhizoctonia solani. It also has anti-mycobacterial activity confirming its potential for production of useful secondary metabolites. Hence the NGS data will help in analyzing secondary metabolite gene clusters and mining of any cryptic metabolite gene, if present. Medicinal uses: Calamus has many traditional uses. Native Americans use the plant to soothe toothaches and headaches. Chinese medicine uses the plant in treatment of deafness, epilepsy and vertigo. Ayurvedic medicine considers Calamus to be a rejuvenator of nervous system. The plant is mainly used in cases of digestive complaints. It eases digestion and enhances the production of stomach juices. Calamus extract is also used in cases of asthma, bronchitis, coughs, but also anorexia, intestinal colic, gastritic ulcers and gastritis. In Manipur, the rhizome is used externally to cure cold and cough. Based on phenotypic and genotypic characterization, the strain has been distinguished as Streptomyces sp. MBRL 601.
