<p><strong>Overview</strong></p><p>The Chattahoochee River Corridor is an area that contains any property within 2,000 feet from the banks of the Chattahoochee River. The area extends from directly below Buford Dam downstream to the limits of Fulton and Douglas counties. The City of Sandy Springs enforces the <a target='_blank' href='https://cdn.atlantaregional.org/wp-content/uploads/metropolitan-river-protection-act.pdf' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>Atlanta Regional Commission’s (ARC) Metropolitan River Protection Act (MRPA)</a>. The MRPA requires local governments, along the corridor, to implement the plan by issuing permits based on ARC findings, monitoring land-disturbing activity in the corridor and enforcing the act and the plan.</p><p>There are buffers in place to protect state waters and to prevent erosion. Homeowners should be aware of buffers on their property when considering construction and/or renovation projects. For more information, contact the Community Development Department.</p><p><strong>Feature Layer</strong></p><ul><li><strong>River Corridor</strong>: A boundary layer outlining properties and protected land within the river corridor.
