Arabidopsis halleri is a Cd and Zn hyperaccumulator and thereby, is a promising candidate for phytoextraction. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of soil type, soil microbiome (bacterial/archaeal), and plant population on phytoextraction efficiencies (Cd and Zn) among four A. halleri populations: two each from contaminated (M_PL22, M_PL27) and uncontaminated (NM_PL14, NM_PL35) sites. Clonal replicates of A. halleri with contrasting Cd and Zn hyperaccumulation traits were grown in their native and the corresponding three soils, in a transplant experiment under controlled conditions.
