Data Challenge: Temporal Trends in Carbapenem Resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniae in Patient Isolates from Kenyan Hospitals Between 2013 and 2023

This study investigates the temporal trends in carbapenem resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) isolated from patient samples collected across Kenyan hospitals between 2013 and 2023. By analysing longitudinal antimicrobial susceptibility data, the research aims to identify changes in resistance patterns over the decade, highlight regional variations, and assess the impact of national antimicrobial stewardship initiatives. The findings will provide critical insights into the evolving threat of carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae in Kenya’s healthcare settings, informing targeted infection control strategies and guiding effective antibiotic use policies to curb the spread of multidrug-resistant pathogens.
