THE IMPACT OF OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY ON THE PREVALENCE AND CLINICAL COURSE OF STABLE ANGINA
收藏资源简介:
This article analyzes the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the frequency of angina attacks. Pathogenetic mechanisms such as endothelial dysfunction, systemic inflammation, and structural cardiac remodeling are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the quality of life and psycho-emotional condition of patients with comorbid obesity. Obesity is an independent predictor of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), including coronary artery disease (CAD). However, numerous studies have shown that patients with CVD who are overweight or have mild obesity demonstrate a better short-term and intermediate prognosis compared to leaner patients with CVD. The article presents a review of clinical studies devoted to obesity as a risk factor for angina pectoris, the pathogenesis of angina in obesity, and the treatment of angina in this category of patients.
