Transformation of coal in the United Kingdom (UK) from 2010-2021, by use

Coal has mostly been used to generate electricity in the United Kingdom. Between 2010 and 2021, the UK electricity generation from coal decreased considerably, from 41.5 million to 2.65 million metric tons, respectively. Overall, coal consumption has fallen for all uses due to new policies aimed at mitigating climate change. Heat generation has used the smallest amount of coal, at six thousand metric tons since 2015.
