Building Aboriginal Land Manager NRM Capacity in the Avon Region

Aboriginal Land Managers in the Avon Region have been supported, to date, in developing and implementing sustainable land management practices, with the assistance of the Wheatbelt NRM’s Soil Conservation Incentive Project and the Indigenous Landholder Services Unit within the Department of Agriculture and Food, WA. This project will establish an industry enterprise initiative that they can all engage with. Bush Tucker knowledge is diminishing from the region and only a few commercial enterprises exist; in Sandalwood and desert lime crops. This sub-project will collate existing and technical knowledge of bush tucker foods native to the region and establish trials on Aboriginal land manager’s properties.
