Microfouling in power plants is a result of the biofilm formation in the heat exchangers, restricting their efficiency due to the increase in boundary shear and associated flow resistance. Since the conventional physicochemical cleaning processes have limited success in solving fouling problems, the study of microbial dynamics in the biofilm is essential to identify the key microorganisms that could be targeted to avoid its formation. Thus, a 16S rRNA gene deep sequencing taxonomic profile was performed to reveal the dynamics of microorganisms compounding biofilm from heat exchangers.
