PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a paper by which a sufficient sizing effect can be obtained even when a premix liquid of a rosin-based sizing agent composition and an aluminum compound is added to pulp. SOLUTION: In a method for producing paper comprising (A) a rosin-based substance and (B) a (meth)acrylamide-based polymer having a hydrophobic group and an ionic group， the component (A) is dispersed in water with the component (B)， and the stabilized sizing composition (C) and a polyvalent metal salt (D) are added to a pulp slurry while continuously mixing them， wherein the component (A) contains 1-15 mass% dihydro agathic acid， and the component (B) is a polymer obtained by using a monomer of a specific composition containing (b-1) an anionic monomer， and the sulfonic acid-based monomer: the carboxylic acid-based monomer in (b-1) is 0-0.5: 1 (molar ratio).
