Mains (pipelines) distribute water throughout the network (water supply system). They are usually pressurised with the exception of channels and water races.
Sewer mains transport sewage throughout the network (sewerage system). Typically the mains are either pressurised or rely on gravity to move the sewage to a treatment plant.
