This folder contains sample data to re-create the key results, presented in: <br>Krone, LB et al. A role for the cortex in sleep-wake regulation. Nature Neuroscience (2021)<br>The files are called 'VSspec' for 'vigilance states and spectra'. - The Matlab files are systematically labelled with the name of the animal, the recording date, and the recorded channel. - For each animal two files exist, one for the baseline day and one for the sleep deprivation day, on which the animal was kept awake for the first 6 hours of the recording. - Each file contains the vigilance state output and spectra after sleep scoring in SleepSign for each individual 4-epoch of a 24-hour recording. <br>- The variables are: -- w: wake epochs (vector)-- w1: wake epochs with EEG artefacts (vector)-- nr: NREM sleep epochs (vector)-- nr2: NREM sleep epochs with EEG artefacts (vector)-- r: REM sleep epochs (vector)-- r3: REM sleep epochs with EEG artefacts (vector)-- mt: movement epochs (vector)-- ma: movement epochs with EEG artefacts (vector)-- bastend: start and end epoch of each brief awakening (2-column matrix)-- spectr: EEG spectra between 0 and 30 Hz for each epoch (21600x121 matrix)<br><br><br>
