资源简介:
Abstract Objective: To understand the stroke subject's knowledge and perception of physiotherapy before initiation of rehabilitation and its impact on motor recovery, physical functioning, and quality of life(QOL).Methods: A total of 36 acute stroke subjects were included in this longitudinal study who were 18-80 years of age, with an ability MOCA score &gt;26. The subjects' knowledge and perception of physiotherapy were assessed using a questionnaire, and motor ability was assessed using the Stroke Rehabilitation Assessment of Movement Scale (STREAM) at the first contact with patients before initiating rehabilitation. Subsequently, after 1 month, the motor ability was reassessed using STREAM, and the physical functioning and quality of life were evaluated using the Stroke Impact Scale-16 and Stroke Specific Quality of Life, respectively. Results: The post-stroke patients scored 19.11±4.08 and 17.78±3.43 in the knowledge and perception domains, respectively. The patient's pre-rehabilitation perception of physiotherapy showed a moderate positive correlation with QOL (r=0.42, p=0.01) and revealed a weak positive correlation with physical function (r=0.23, p=0.19). However, it did not influence their motor recovery (r=-0.07, p=0.71). No correlation was observed between the patients' pre-rehabilitation knowledge and motor recovery, physical function, and QOL. Conclusion: The pre-rehabilitation knowledge and perception of physiotherapy do not influence the functional outcomes among stroke patients. <br>
