16s rDNA sequencing was used to detect changes in the gut flora of rats. The 16s rDNA gene is the DNA sequence corresponding to the ribosomal RNA encoded by bacteria, which contains 9 highly variable regions and 10 conserved regions. 16s rDNA reflects species differences and conserved regions reflect species affinity. The highly variable regions reflect interspecies differences and the conserved regions reflect interspecies affinities, and are found in the genomes of prokaryotes. 16s rDNA has a high degree of specificity, conservatism and stability.
