This dataset resource consists of Landsat-8 satellite data currently received and processed by the China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station. Launched on February 11, 2013, Landsat-8 is the follow-up satellite of the U.S. Landsat series. The Landsat-8 satellite is equipped with the Operational Land Imager (OLI for short) and the Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS for short). The OLI has 9 spectral bands covering various wavelength ranges from infrared to visible light. Compared with the ETM+ sensor onboard the Landsat-7 satellite, the OLI adds one blue band (0.433–0.453 μm) and one shortwave infrared band (Band 9: 0.136–1.390 μm). The blue band is primarily used for coastal zone observations, while the shortwave infrared band has strong water vapor absorption characteristics and can be applied to cloud detection.
