Pseudomonas azelaica strain HBP-1 is a sewage sludge isolate capable of growth on 2-hydroxy- and 2,2'-dihydroxy-biphenyl as the sole carbon and energy sources and is a source of enzymes for the biotransformation and of building blocks for biosensors. The present project aims at determining the complete genome sequence of the bacterium and to study the mobile genetic elements associated to its ability to degrade these aromatic compounds.
