GIS of Antarctic rock samples collected by Italian PNRA geologists since 1985. This GIS is used as a support for distribution of information related to antarctic rock museum collection. Point geographical positions were digitized in GIS using the field maps (mainly USGS) provided by PNRA geologists. GIS topographic data derive from ADD digital data and GPS-derived locations are also present. They were automatically (with 20 km maximum error) or manually (with 5 km max. err.) checked against textual descriptions of sampling locations. Positional description in GIS derives mainly from Access database but also from SCAR Composite Gazzetteer of Antarctica. The other attributes are derived from the Access database.
