"Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a group of diseases with a poor prognosis in which the pulmonary artery wall thickens, resulting in narrowing of the vessel lumen and increased pulmonary artery pressure. However, the detailed pathogenesis is unknown. We discovered that Regnase-1 expressed in alveolar macrophages are critical for the development of PAH in mice by analyzing CD11c-Cre+ Zc3h12aflox/flox mice. Transcriptomic analysis of alveolar macrophages of these mice revealed that Regnase-1 in Alveolar macrophages unifies the regulation of multiple factors involved in PAH pathogenesis by a posttranscriptional regulatory mechanism."
