In Physcomitrella patens DICER-LIKE1a (PpDCL1a) encoding the essential Dicer protein for microRNA biogenesis harbors an intronic microRNA (miR1047) suggesting an autoregulatory mechanism controlling PpDCL1a abundance. In this project we have analyzed the effects of abolished autoregulation of the PpDCL1a transcript at miRNAs and mRNAs levels at both normal and salt stress conditions.
