VPRS 832 Applications for Crown Grants, Land Act 1862, Amending Land Act 1865 and Land Act 1869

This series contains files and papers relating to applications for Crown grants for lands leased under the provisions of the Land Act 1862, the Amending Land Act 1865 and the Land Act 1869. Often, leases of land selected under one Act (for example the 1862 Land Act) could be re-negotiated and extended under provisions of a subsequent Land Act thus extending the time before a Crown grant was applied for. At that time, it would appear that all Certificates of Title by leasehold and leases were returned to the Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538) to enable one Crown grant for all contiguous land to be prepared. Very often, the applicant had not been the original selector but had acquired the land by assignment or purchase. Other details, particularly for applications relating to land leased under Land Act 1862, were listings of the holdings of the applicant and certification that conditions of the lease such as the making of improvements had been satisfied. The P1 consignment was originally registered as Units 6 - 11 of VPRS 850/P0 Applications for Crown Grants, Section 22 Land Act 1862. The P2 consignment was originally registered as Units 1 - 7 of VPRS 849/P0 Certificates of Title.
