资源简介:
Subsistence analysis of materials obtained during archaeological mitigation
of 5RB2435 in Rio Blanco County, Colorado, encompasses both floral
and faunal remains. Pollen and macrofloral analyses were employed to examine
the vegetal components of the diet, while faunal analysis was used to
assess the animal or meat portion of the diet. The Texas Creek Overlook
Site (5RB2435) is unique in the Douglas Creek/Evacuation Creek area, as it
is a prehistoric masonry structure located on an isolated rock outcrop. The
site appears to be a late Fremont occupation dating to 430 ± 50 BP. This
site is composed of three rooms and contains two areas of midden-type deposits.
The pollen and flotation samples were taken within room fill and
midden deposits, while the bone and larger macrofloral remains were recovered
primarily during screening activities accompanying excavation.
