Complete mitochondrial genome of Haemagogus equinus

Haemagogus (Hg.) mosquito species are geographically restricted to the forests of South America and the Caribbean. Given the expansion of emerging viruses in the Americas, little is known about the vectors that spread them; several mosquitoes belonging to this genus are responsible for the transmission of the Mayaro virus (MAYV) and Yellow Fever Virus (YFV). Hg. equinus is the only known species to be present in Jamaica, here we report the first mitochondrial genome for this species.
