资源简介:
Herbert Kay (23/4/1887-1974):
During WWI Herbert joined the Kings Royal Rifle Corps (R/1713) originally based in Winchester, with his unit landing in France on 21/7/1915. He was reported missing in 1916, but was then found severely wounded in his right arm and subsequently invalided out of the army. He is presumed to have been in the 10th, 11th, 12th or 13th Battalion all of which took part in various phases of the Battle of the Somme during 1916, and it is likely that he was injured during that action. Campaign medals awarded were the 1915 Star, the British War Medal, the Victory Medal, and the Silver War Badge. On 1/6/1923 he was granted a War Pension on account of gunshot wound to right arm, deafness, with his disability assessed as 60%.
