THH mentions two dyeing techniques that he knows about but has never used. The first consists of first dyeing the loincloth in a decoction of bark to give it a dark red colour. This process would save time and indigo dye (see also: 2019LG08-I04-0126). The second technique consists of creating ligatured reserves on the loincloth in order to obtain distinct patterns after dyeing.
