RNA 5-methylcytosine (m5C) modification is one of the important aspects in post-transcriptional regulation and is involved in diverse biological and pathological processes. NSUN2 is one of the most important RNA methyltransferases, which introduces m5C modification into tRNA, mRNA and other non-coding RNA. Here, we provide the first landscapes of m5C modification on mRNAs in liver tissues from hepatocyte-specific NSUN2 knockout mice (NSUN2 fl/fl, Alb-Cre, LKO) and control mice (NSUN2 fl/fl). We identified a variety of genes, which show different m5C modification levels between LKO mice and control mice.
