Sequencing data of human and mammalian mtDNA and nuclear capture libraries from impregnated blocks of intact sediment.

Investigation of ancient DNA preservation in sediments at the micro-scale using impregnated blocks of intact sediment from 13 archaeological sites in Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Impregnated blocks of sediment were sampled either at random locations or by targeting specific sediment features. For each sample, DNA was extracted, sequencing libraries were prepared and enriched either using a probe set of 242 mammalian mtDNA genomes, the human mtDNA genome or human nuclear SNPs.
