Corn is one of the top three staple food crops worldwide. Didymella glomerata has a broad host range infecting kiwi, pistachio, cornel dogwood and Chrysanthemum. However, it was never reported to infect corn under field conditions. Here we report the de novo genome assembly of D. glomerata isolate Pj-2, which causes Didymella leaf blight on corn. The pathogen was first reported on corn hybrids in Panjin located in Liaoning, a northeastern province of China in the 2021 disease survey.
