This paper introduces an assessment of mobile Internet of Things (IoT) devices embedded with Global Positioning Service (GPS) / Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) chip, envisioned to enhance positioning accuracy for safety and on-demand location aware user applications and architecture such as mobile payment applications. This paper extends previous works and proposes a detailed Hybrid assessment, coupling design and performance metrics of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) mobile IoT receivers. The performance evaluation of multi-band mobile GPS/GNSS receivers demonstrated accuracy and precision capabilities for the GNSS observables. Upon those findings, a broad list of performance indicators, metrics and designs parameters are suggested in this paper for future modeling of GNSS tools. The raw GNSS measurements on the RINEX-3.00 format are analyzed using the GNSS-Lab data processing tool (gLAB) and Google GNSS analysis tool. The results show that the multi-band embedded GPS IoT mobile devices outperform single band inbuilt GPS. Moreover, multi-embedded GPS IoT devices offer the best geolocation for on-demand location services in mobile payment applications. The work in this paper can be used to identify the best IoT embedded GPS device recommendation in IoT-based architecture applications such as mobile payment.
