Climate change mitigation by a sustainable water buffalo dairy chain in Bangladesh

The aim of this work is to evaluate the potential of a transition from the use of dairy cows to water buffaloes in river basins and coastal areas of Bangladesh in terms of effects on animal and human health, as well as animal welfare and farm profitability, and to identify key aspects for supporting this transition in practice. More specifically, our objectives are to: 1. Evaluate the buffalo milk chain in Bangladesh from udder to consumer, focusing on udder health, food-borne pathogens, and handling practices of milk and milk production. This project aims to identify pathogens, risk factors, and best practices to increase milk quantity, quality, and safety.
