Assessment of marine vertebrate and broader eukaryotic community composition derived from environmental DNA in sea water samples collected in a newly established marine protected area (MPA) in the outer southern Moray Firth, Northeast Scotland. Samples were collected approximately monthly between June and October 2021. Samples were profiled via metabarcoding using the mitochondrial 12S and 16 rRNA markers MarVer1 and Marver3, as well as the nuclear 18S rRNA marker (139f, EukBr).
