资源简介:

This is data obtained while doing a prospective, analytical, hospital-based cross-sectional study of 71 consecutive patients who presented to the emergency room at Bir Hospital, Nepal with symptoms suggestive of acute appendicitis was carried out. Modified Alvarado score and Anderson score were calculated after taking into account the patient's medical history, clinical examination, and pertinent laboratory investigations. Regarding Sensitivity, Specificity, Positive Predictive Value, Negative Predictive Value, and Diagnostic Accuracy to predict acute appendicitis, these scores were compared to the Histopathology report following an appendectomy based on the operating surgeon's decision. From the study of data from 71 patients the mean age of 29.68 ±10.88 years with Male to female ratio of 1.08:1. Sensitivity, Specificity, Positive Predictive Value, Negative Predictive Value, and Accuracy for the Modified Alvarado Score and Anderson Score respectively were 77 % vs. 93.4%; 60% vs. 80%; 88.23% vs. 96.6%; 30% vs. 66.6%; and 53% vs.93.4 %. The negative Appendectomy Rate was 14.08%. Thus, Anderson scores have better sensitivity, specificity, Positive predictive value, and accuracy for diagnosis of Acute Appendicitis than the Modified Alvarado Score but have more negative predictive value compared to the Modified Alvarado Score.
