This dataset is constructed around the fusion estimation of surface solar radiation and photovoltaic (PV) potential assessment in China. It primarily includes multi-source surface solar radiation data, fusion results, station validation data, and PV power generation potential calculations. The original data are derived from publicly available surface solar radiation products such as MSHSSR, CERES-SYN1deg, ERA5-Land, and CMFD 2.0, and are combined with the China Building Roof Area dataset (CBRA) and multiple types of ground observation station data for analysis. During data processing, spatial projection, temporal scale, and spatial resolution were first unified across different sources, integrating the multi-source data onto a consistent 10 km grid and monthly temporal step. Subsequently, a pseudo-reference field was constructed using the Laplacian pyramid method, and weighted fusion was performed by combining the Bayesian fusion method with the Generalized Three-Cornered Hat (TCH) error estimation method, ultimately generating a monthly surface solar radiation fusion dataset for China. On this basis, further estimation of centralized and distributed PV power generation potential was conducted. Data processing relied primarily on Python, GIS software, and tabular data. The temporal coverage of the dataset spans mainly from March 2000 to June 2017, and the spatial coverage encompasses mainland China, with a geographical extent approximately bounded by 73.6°–135.0° E and 18.0°–53.6° N. The main fusion result data have a spatial resolution of 10 km and a monthly temporal resolution. Tabular data primarily include time series statistical results, regional average results, and data for plotting figures. In the tables, rows typically represent time (year, month) or regional categories, while columns typically represent different data sources or fusion results. The main units of measurement involved include surface solar radiation (W/m² or MJ/m²) and PV power generation potential (kWh/m² or GWh/m²), with specific units as indicated within the fields of each data file. The data files submitted in this release mainly include: uniformly processed multi-source radiation product data, fused radiation result data, and source data corresponding to various figures and tables. Different files respectively record original inputs, fusion outputs, validation statistics, and application analysis results. The data formats are primarily CSV and TIF. CSV files can be opened using Excel, WPS, or other general spreadsheet software, while TIF files can be read and processed using software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
