Liver gene expression of three species of Peromyscus with different mating systems. Peromyscus

The objective of the project for which the data was generated was to examine gene expression variation as a function of mating system. We sampled three species of Peromyscine rodent that were either monogamous (P. californicus) or polygynandrous (P. maniculatus). These animals were sampled across four populations in California. The study aimed to test longstanding hypotheses regarding the impact of promiscuity on the immune system; where it is hypothesized that promiscuity leads to increased immune variability.
