VIM-1-producing Enterobacter asburiae with colistin resistance genes from wastewaters

Three VIM-1-producing Enterobacter asburiae isolates originating from hospital and municipal wastewaters were characterized. The blaVIM-1 gene was located within class 1 integron carried by different types of plasmids including IncFIB(K)/IncFIB(pQil), IncFIB/IncFII and one non-typeable plasmid. Furthermore, one of the isolates carried mcr-10 conferring resistance to colistin while in another isolate mcr-9 without the colistin resistance phenotype was detected.
