ITC 2007 Track 3: CTT Benchmark & Solution Dataset for GA-based Timetabling Experiments

This dataset supports the experiments presented in our study on optimizing monthly duty schedules for seven medical secretaries at Aydın Women’s and Children’s Hospital Emergency Department using a custom Genetic Algorithm (GA). To ensure reproducibility and facilitate comparison with the literature, we adapted the International Timetabling Competition 2007, Track 3: Curriculum Based Course Timetabling benchmarks. The archive contains the following files: benchmark.logRaw log of all GA and Simulated Annealing runs, recording timestamped messages with instance names, algorithm identifiers, seed numbers, generation counts, “best‐so‐far” penalty values, and elapsed times. merged_ctt.jsonOriginal problem definitions for each CTT instance, specifying room–day–period structures, curricula, and both hard and soft constraint data. merged_solution.jsonFinal timetable solutions produced by our optimized GA, mapping each instance’s room–day–period assignments for courses (analogous to duty slots). runs.csvDetailed per‐run data extracted from the log, with one row per (instance, algorithm, seed) recording the generation at which the best penalty was found, the penalty itself, and CPU time. summary.csvAggregated statistics for each (instance, algorithm) pair, including minimum, maximum, median, mean, and standard deviation of penalties, plus average CPU time. Researchers can use these files to reproduce our analyses—box‐plot distributions, convergence curves, performance profiles, and statistical tests—and to develop or benchmark alternative meta-heuristic timetabling approaches.
