These are full-length consensus HBV sequences from adults in South Africa, representing individuals with and without hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Sequences were derived through a whole genome sequencing Illumina protocol. Ethical approval was granted from the health research ethics committee at the University of Stellenbosch (S13/04/072 and N11/09/284).
