Malting performance of Australian barley in response to different malting regimes

This dataset contains results from trials of Australian barley samples assessed for malting performance using the AEGIC Multimalter under different malting regimes. Comprehensive malt quality data were collected, including key attributes such as malt extract (EFG), Kolbach index (KI), free amino nitrogen (FAN), apparent attenuation limit (AAL), wort viscosity (WVIS), beta-glucan (BG), diastatic power (DP), malt moisture (MMK), malt nitrogen (MNIT), malt protein (MPRO), malt soluble nitrogen (SNIT), and wort soluble nitrogen dumas (WSN). Several factors known to influence malt quality were also varied and recorded, including the use of germination aids such as Gibberellic acid, germination moisture levels, and steeping temperature and duration. These treatments are represented in the dataset under the columns STPRegime, GermID, and KilnID. Detailed steeping conditions are documented in the Steep sheet, referenced by codes in the STPRegime column (for example, code P-797 indicates that seeds were steeped at 19 °C following a sequence of 7 hours wet, 9 hours air rest, and 7 hours wet). Similarly, the GermID and KilnID columns link to specific germination and kilning treatments, with full details available in the Germination and Kiln sheets within the dataset.
