Lactuca sativa Transcriptome or Gene expression

In this study, we used segregating population to map and clone genes that contribute to color variation in leaves of lettuce. Bulked Segregant Analysis in combination with high throughput sequencing technology was used to genetically dissect the complex trait of leaf color in lettuce. The loci controlling leaf color in lettuce were identified based on the difference of allele frequencies between the two extreme pools in the segregating populations. A total of five polymorphic genes associated with color variation in lettuce have been identified.
