Bosaso Municipal Waste Streams-2026

This dataset provides the first weighbridge‑verified baseline of solid waste flows in Bosaso, Somalia. It was compiled through a seven‑day operational survey that combined truck trip logs, weighbridge measurements, and systematic sampling of representative vehicles. The dataset captures daily throughput of approximately 264 metric tonnes, extrapolated to 96,300 tonnes annually, with detailed records from 27 active trucks completing 51 trips. Waste composition analysis shows residuals at 34.6 percent, organics at 28.3 percent, and recyclables at 33 percent, translating to about 91 tonnes of residuals, 75 tonnes of organics, and 87 tonnes of recyclables per day. Recyclable fractions are further disaggregated into cardboard, plastics, metals, and glass, reflecting Bosaso’s commercial and port economy. Organized into throughput tables, composition profiles, and recyclable breakdowns, the dataset offers a verified foundation for evidence‑based planning, recovery initiatives, and climate‑resilient urban management.
