We found that mice deficient for Per2 in their SCN eat during the day with a peak at 8 h after lights on. To understand the reason for this change in behaviour, we conducted an RNA-sequencing experiment comparing floxed, Nestin-Cre, Nestin-Cre x wild type/floxed, and Nestin-Cre x floxed/floxed animals. Insight into the regulatory changes will provide information on the mechanism, how the SCN suppress food searching during the inactive phase of a mouse.
