"This synthetic dataset and simulator bundle converts Vint Cerf\u2019s April 2026 Communications of the ACM essay, It\u2019s about Time, into an executable artifact focused on the NTP 2036 and UNIX 2038 timestamp overflow problems. It includes a Python simulator, synthetic CSV tables, and figures showing counter wraparound, misinterpreted calendar years, time-error magnitudes, legacy device exposure, and patching scenarios. Five remediation scenarios are modeled, enabling analysis of how upgrade rates and legacy-device prevalence shape future risk in embedded and IoT environments. The bundle is designed for education, systems-risk exploration, and standards-oriented discussion, and demonstrates how a short conceptual document can be transformed into runnable code and structured synthetic data for interactive investigation."
