VPRS 19368 Diagnostic X-ray Department Report Books

This record series documents the monthly reports from the Radiologist at Prince Henry's Hospital. The position was re-named as "Radiologist In Charge" from December 1959 and "Director of Radiology" from February 1963. The Prince Henry's Hospital Annual Report for 1946 notes that a temporary X-ray Department had been almost completed in the Pathology Block, which would not only relieve the present inadequate X-ray facilities but would enable the department to function continuously until permanent quarters in the new Out-patient Department were complete. The Radiologist's monthly reports commenced in 1946. The reports contain, mainly, statistical information. Some reports include more expansive information such as the installation of new equipment, discussion about staffing requirements, the transfer of the Department to the New Wing in 1959, the automatic processing of X-rays while the patient is still on site, and improved working conditions.
