We used bulk RNA sequencing to investigate the molecular signature of microglia from young (3-5mo) and old (20-22mo). mice exposed to 1.2% isoflurane + abdominal laparotomy. Microglia were isolated from the hippocampus or from the whole hemisphere (without hippocampus). Overall design: Fcrls+/CD11b+/Ly6C- microglia were isolated by Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) and analyzed using Smartseq2 RNAseq.
