The goal of the study is to unveil the nature of Cladophorales chloroplast genomes, since strategies that resulted in successful sequencing of other green algae chloroplast genome have consistently failed.To date, only the sequence of one gene (rbcL) has been sequenced from one Cladophorales species.This study will shed light as well in chloroplast genome evolution of green algae.
