Pangasius pangasius mitochondrion, complete genome

Pangasius pangasius commonly known as yellowtail catfish, is a freshwater species in the family Pangasiidae distributed in the river systems of Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. It has been considered as critically endangered in Bangladesh due to over exploitation and habitat loss. Therefore, there is an urgent need for development of genetic resources comprising the entire mitochondrial sequence. Here, we present the first complete mitochondrial genome sequence of P. pangasius from a river in Bangladesh.
